Beginning at the Louvre, we traveled our way up the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe! What a walk!! And it started raining really hard once we got to the Arc so we didn't climb it, but it was so grand to look at :) wonderful sites with wonderful company :D
We took a walk and saw this bridge COVERED in all sorts of locks! Master locks, bike locks, mini locks, safe locks and even one huge bike tire lock, were all locked onto this bridge. There are a few of these bridges in Paris; where lovers meet to fasten their lock of love and throw the keys into the river below! How romantic!!
We decided to taking a shopping day and spent the whole day walking and ended up by this chapel. Picnicking was such a great idea because my little feet were tiiiired! Woo! It was absolutely gorgeous outside and we listened to music and chowed down on a baguette sandwich :)
I saw this beauty parked with the top down and just had to jump in to take a spin! Woohoo!!
Antarctica and I had so much fun exploring with our new friends. We walked through a town called Becherel, where we climbed through lots of old book stores. Found loads and loads of novels and short stories, all shapes and sizes and most en français! Then we continued our little road trip and found this place with the lake. I wish we could have stayed longer :)
Antarctica and Florent wanted me to meet more of their friends and decided an outdoor BBQ was a perfect way to do it! We played games, talked, (I learned some French!) and we, well, we ate. And it was gooooood! I learned how to work the grill too! Rotating shish-kebab is difficult! But they call it brochette here in France.
Learning how to play the guitar was so much fun too! I met some great people and had a blast :) A bientôt We grabbed a bunch of friends together and took a drive! We drove north of Rennes, to St Malo and it's fellow beaches! Spent the day in the sand playing card games, getting buried, and trying to inch our way into the cold water!! Great fun day! :)
On Friday we jumped on 3 different subway lines to get to a car that took us from Paris to the west! We drove through French countryside and saw cows and horses and sheep! And lots of gorgeous landscape! We ended in a suburb of Rennes, Césson-Sèvigné, where we took HUGE gulps of tree-filled air! Yumm! Such a difference from the city! We are here visiting friends and family of Antarctica and Florent :) more to come!!
Last night we walked to one of the two islands in the Seine, brought some saucisson (like salamis, dried meats), cheese and bread, and just sat on the water's bank! So fun! So many people to meet! With it being such a beautiful and hot day, sitting near the Seine was perfect with the breeze coming in off the water :)
Yay! Soooo it's been raining and I haven't gone adventuring too much this weekend. But!! We ate some awesome kebab from the shop across the street! After a night of partying everyone needs a little kebab and French fries! I mean "frites"!
The thunderstorm we had the other night was exciting! But it's been raining on and off for the last few days. Parisians don't have hurricanes like we have in New Jersey so the rain during the storm was pretty epic for everyone! Teehee Til we meet again: Currently listening to The Xx, VCR |
